Ranikhet disease vaccine F

Description  :   The vaccine is a suspension of modified living virus (Ranikhet (New Castle) Disease F. Strain) prepared from the experimentally infected chicken embryos and is freeze dried. . The vaccine is supplied with diluent

Vaccination : The content of one ampoule of the vaccine represent 100 doses. The material in the vial is reconstitute with the 10ml of the diluent .The vaccine should be thoroughly mixed and stored on ice in a sterile container. The reconstituted vaccine should be used within 2 hours. Two drops of the reconstituted vaccine is poured into one nostril with a dropper and allowed to breath the drops. It can also administered through the eye of chicks.

Uses: The vaccine is used in young chicks on day of hatch. the immunity lasts for 8-12 weeks. So chicks should be revaccinated with RDK vaccine within 6 - 8 weeks after the primary vaccination with F strain.

Preservation and shelf life :  The vaccine can be stored for one month in the refrigeration temperature when transported in ice., 3 months in the deep freezer and for 10 days at room temperature from the date of issue.

Precautions : Unhygienic conditions of brooders , over crowding of birds , presence of chronic respiratory disease conditions and  poor feeding

ANTHRAX SPORE VACCINE.(I.P)

Description :    The vaccine is a suspension of living spores of an uncapsulated avirulent strain of Bacillus anthracis (Weybridge strain), in 50 percent glycerin saline. The vaccine is used as prophylactic against anthrax and used exclusively for cattle, buffaloes, horses, camels, elephants , sheep and goat.

Dose: 1 ml  in all animals and 3 ml in elephants. in elephants it is advisable to give asecond dose of 3 ml after an interval of 3 months.

Route of injection: Subcutaneous

Reactions: The vaccinated animals may have a mild local and febrile reaction usually lasting for two or three days.

Immunity: The immunity following the use of vaccine is established in about 10 days and the animals are protected for a period of one year.

Preservation and shelf life: It keeps well for 6 months if refrigerated (2-50c ) from the date of issue and for one and half months at room temperature. 

Package: 100 ml and 50 ml bottles.

Precautions: Since the vaccine contains the live spores , persons with abrased hands should not handle the vaccine. After vaccination , the syringes and the needles should be thoroughly sterilized in boiling water for 1 hour. the vaccine bottles are not returnable and should be destroyed preferably by incineration. the vaccine should not be used during an outbreak.

Ranikhet DiseaseVaccine (K)

Description   :  The vaccine is a suspension of modified living virus (Ranikhet (New Castle) Disease K. Strain) prepared from the  experimentally infected chicken embryos and is freeze dried. The vaccine is supplied with diluent.

Dose and Route of injection : The dose is 0.5 ml to be inoculated subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Optimum  age of vaccination is 6 to 8 weeks. It should be performed in healthy flock only. if done perfectly the resulting immunity is for its productive life.

Reactions  : After vaccination birds may show some drowsiness, from the 3rd to the 6th day.1 to 3 % may become severely lame or even paralyzed( usually seen in chicks not protected with F1). birds showing slight lameness or paralysis usually recover within 10 to 14 days. ordinarily a 2 % causality may be expected.

        Birds exhibiting illness or paralysis at a later stage (after 2 to 3 weeks should be suspected for Coccidiosis etc. vaccination when done in laying hens the egg production declines initially , but returns to normal in 14 days. it is advisable to deworm the birds against round worms of poultry one week prior to this vaccination.

Preservation and shelf life : The vaccine can be stored for one month in the refrigeration temperature when transported in ice, 3 months in the deep freezer and for 10 days at room temperature from the date of issue.

Use : The content of one vial should be dissolved in 100 ml diluent . the reconstituted vaccine should be kept cool (in ice) and well protected from direct sunlight and heat. it should be used within 2 hours after reconstitution.

Precautions: It is not advisable to carry out vaccination  when there is outbreak of Ranikhet disease., owing to the risk of infecting the unaffected birds by the operator. it is also contraindicated in a flock affected with Coccidiosis or worms. If done severe reaction and mortality may occur.

Fowl Pox Vaccine

Description   :  Fowl – Pox Vaccine is a suspension of a modified living virus ( ) prepared from the Chorio-allantoic membrane of the infected embryo and is freeze dried. The vaccine is supplied with diluent

use : The vaccine is used for protection of poultry against fowl pox. each vial is sufficient for vaccination of 100 birds above six weeks of age.

Dose : The content of each vial is diluted in 1 ml of 50 % glycerol saline solution to obtain a homogenized suspension. the homogenized suspension is kept in ice during the course of its use. the reconstituted vaccine should be used within three hours.

Vaccination : Use a medium sized needle whose tip below the eye is broken and rubbed smooth. Dip the sterile needle in the vaccine, the vaccination is done by wing web puncture. Give two pricks at 1 cm apart, after dipping in vaccine before pricking avoiding the veins.

Preservation and shelf life : It keeps well for 3 months in the deep freezer at -15 to -20 o c and 1 month in the refrigeration temperature. If sent by post the vaccine must be used within 10 days

Precautions : The vaccine should not be used for debilitated or worm infected birds or when there is an outbreak of the same disease. Unvaccinated chicken below 6 weeks of age should not be allowed to come in contact with vaccinated ones. The vaccinated birds should be examined for takes seven days after vaccination. If there is any generalization of pox infection strict segregation of birds should be carried out.

Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (Broth)

Description   :   The vaccine is a  killed suspension of Pasteurella multocida – P 52 strain in nutrient broth with formaldehyde

Dose  : 5 - 10 ml according to the size of animals 

Route of injection  : Subcutanious

Immunity : immunity is only for 2 - 3 months

Preservation and shelf life : stored at refrigeration temperature , it retain potency for 6 months.at room temperature it can be stored for about 2 months.

Package :300 ml bottles.

Precautions   : Animal should not be let out for grazing for 7 days.

Duck Plague Vaccine

Description   :     This vaccine is a modified living virus prepared from the Chorio-allantoic fluid, membrane and embryo of infected chicken embryo and is freeze dried. The vaccine is supplied with diluent.

Dose : one ampoule contain 200 doses. One ampoule is diluted in 100 ml diluent and 0.5 ml is given subcutaneously

Immunity : one year

Preservation and shelf life : In deep freezers it retains potency for 10 to 12 months and in the freezing chamber of refrigerator for 1 month. Transportaion must be under refrigeration.

Schedule of Vaccination: In healthy atmosphere first vaccination is given at the 7th week and a booster dose is given in the 4th month.( immunity develops in one week and last for an year.) in the face of an outbreak first vaccination can be done from the 3rd week of age followed by a second vaccination after 4 weeks and booster after 4 months.

Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (OA)

Description   : The vaccine is a homogenous suspension of formalinised agar washed Pasteurella multocida P 52 strain in liquid paraffin and lanolin.

 

Dose  :  2 ml intramuscularly for animals weighing less than 140 kg. 3ml for animals weighing above 140 kg.

Route of injection  : The vaccine is to be given intramuscularly and the site of inoculation should be given a gentle massage.

Reactions  : A slight swelling may develop at the site of inoculation which may persist for some time.

Immunity  : The immunity following vaccination is established after 21 days and lasts for about one year.

Preservation and shelf life  : Under refrigeration temperature it keeps well for about one year. At room temperature it can be stored for about 2 months.

Package : Bottles of 100 ml

Precautions   : The vaccine bottle should be thoroughly shaken before use. Animals should not be sent for grazing for 7 days following vaccination. The vaccine should not be used during an outbreak. Strict aseptic precaution must be observed during vaccination lest it may develop into an abscess.

Black Quarter Vaccine (I.P)

Description :  The vaccine is a culture of clostridium chauvoei grown in anaerobic fluid medium, rendered sterile and atoxic by the addition of formaldehyde solution in such a manner that it retains its immunizing properties

Dose  : The  vaccine is inoculated subcutaneously. Cattle 5 - 10 ml, sheep & goat 2 - 3 ml. a second vaccination at the same dosage rate may be carried out ten days after the first inoculation in cases where a high degree of immunity is considered essential.

Reactions  : A slight swelling at the site of inoculation may result and persist for 2 - 3 days.

Immunity : The immunity becomes fully established in a fortnight after vaccination and persist for about a year.

Preservation and shelf life :The vaccine should be stored in the refrigerator or cold room at a temperature of 2- 5 0 c. it keeps well for 6 months at this temperature. if sent by parcel the vaccine must be used within a month.

Package  :300 ml bottles.

Precautions  : The vaccine should not be used during an outbreak.

Duck Pasteurella Vaccine

This vaccine is a homogenous suspension of formalinised agar washed Pasteurella multocida (Niranam strain) in liquid paraffin and lanolin. The vaccine will be released soon.

Brucella abortus S 19 vaccine (live, freeze dried)

This new vaccine for the bovine brucellosis has been developed and standardized in our laboratory. this vaccine is for the use in female calves of the age above 4 months. It will made available for the end of 2004 after necessary approval for the national control authority.

Rabies vaccine. Vet,  Inactivated,  (cell culture)   

The institute is planning to produce cell culture rabies vaccine from 2004. For this  a detailed project for 15 million RS has been submitted to the government. A new facility  will be constructed this year meeting the WHO GMP requirement. The vaccine will be produced in BHK 21 cell culture. the technical Know-how for this vaccine was received from the Pasteur Institute of India, Coonoor. The production is expected from the beginning of 2005.( for details contact)

Combined HS- BQ vaccine

A  new formulation for the HS and BQ was developed in our research and development laboratory and has passed initial evaluation . this new combination is now under field trials.
